Very Short Post: The Moral Arc Today is Rainbow Colored
I spent some time watching a Pride parade today, and it made me patriotically proud and immensely grateful. Proud that Americans have been in the forefront of battling for and winning LGBTQ+ rights. Grateful to those Americans who were brave enough to be early pioneers in the battle for dignity, acceptance, and equality.
Homophobia still exists in America as do other prejudices that afflict the least evolved among us. And globally there are many countries that still discriminate in horrible ways against their LGBTQ+ citizens who dare to live their true lives.
But the progress made in the West and in many wealthy countries has been tremendous.
It should give us hope that the long, moral arc of the universe can indeed bend toward justice.
